Hotel On The Cay
Resort overview
Hotel on the Cay, located on a lush, five-acre cay (pronounced key) has a long history of intrigue dating back to the 17th century when pirates anchored their ships off the beach where guests now sunbathe, swim and snorkel. The property (many believe was the inspiration for Herman Wouk's famous book Don't Stop the Carnival) is a combination hotel and time-share located on Protestant Cay, a two-minute ferry ride from downtown Christiansted on the tropical island of St. Croix in the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Hotel On The Cay is a 53 room historic hotel. Half of the rooms are timeshare owned and the rest of the regular hotel rooms/suites are retro comfy with a tropical vibe. Renovation of the hotel's infrastructure began in the spring of 2010. Choose a partial ocean-view room or a partial ocean-view suite. Suitable for a couple or family, the room includes either one queen bed, two queen beds or a king and sleeper sofa, kitchenette (with microwave, small refrigerator, toaster, and coffee pot), air conditioning, cable TV, ceiling fan and a balcony facing the Caribbean Sea. It's just right for two adults and up to two children. The suite is suitable for families as well as couples looking for extra space. It includes two queen beds and a separate living room with sleeper sofa.
A small, pristine beach overlooks Christiansted Harbor for perfect photos at sunset. As the only beach in downtown Christiansted, you will find not only other hotel guests but also locals who enjoy swimming and snorkeling the amazing undersea world surrounding the cay (expect to see octopus and spotted eagle rays). Water sport rentals are available on-site.
If your idea of a Caribbean vacation includes sunset, white sand and the simple phrase "no problem -" this is the place for you.
