Scenic, crystal clear Lake Tahoe is the beautiful focal point of this region.  Lake Tahoe, the largest alpine lake in North America, is 22 miles long and 12 miles wide.  During the summer, partake in a variety of water sports and outdoor activities along the 72 mile shore.  In the winter, ski such slopes as Heavenly Valley and Squaw Valley.  Reno, "The Biggest Little City in the World" is located only 45 minutes from Tahoe, down towards the Nevada desert.  Nightclubs and 24 hour casinos abound in and around Reno, as well as on the Nevada side of Lake Tahoe
