The island is just two miles long, yet it has some of the finest beaches in the British Isles, if not the world. Additionally, the spectacular flowers, plant life, rare birds and sensational sea views along the heathery cliff path walks all add to the thrill of St. Martin’s unmistakable beauty. St. Martin is the third Largest of the Isle of Scilly, and the first land you see when crossing the Mainland by sea or air. For visitors who want a quiet holiday, we have much to offer. There is a choice of some of the finest sandy beaches, with safe bathing, secluded coves, and many interesting walks along the cliffs. Behind these beautiful scenes, there lies an enterprising and diverse community. The 120 or so inhabitants are industrious folk – there’s a flower farm and vineyard – both open to visitors, a fabulous dive school offering underwater adventures and snorkelling with seals, a locally-inspired silver jewellery designer, a flourishing bakery full of artisan breads. The property occupies a site of approximately 2.8 hectares, on a sloping site with panoramic coastal views on the south west shore of St Martin’s, overlooking Tean Sound and Tresco. The hotel is designed to appear as a small hamlet of cottages, with the bedrooms and public rooms facing the sea. The main hotel entrance is to the southern elevation, accessible directly from the concrete jetty or via a narrow lane from the rest of the island. The landscaped gardens and grounds, with their subtropical plants, are a particular feature of the hotel, and lead directly to a beach of powder white sand and crystal clear water. This is the ideal holiday destination for those looking for peace, tranquility and abundant natural beauty.
