For a real Scandinavian mountain experience, Åre Village, set in the heart of the historic lakeside town is the place to be. The resort is in walking distance of the piste, as well as shops, restaurants and attractions. For those who enjoy winter sports, there's no better place in Sweden to enjoy skiing, husky sledding and ice driving. When the snow melts, mountain biking, white water rafting and even zip wires are a great way to get an adrenalin rush.
One of Scandinavia’s leading ski resorts, Åre Village is a hotbed for adventure. With 91 kilometers of slopes and 31 lifts, the skiing and snowboarding is unbeatable, offering a stunning backdrop of Sweden’s expansive mountain vistas. The area’s terrain has hosted many big name events from the Alpine World Championships to the Freestyle FIS World Cup. In the summer, Sweden’s largest mountain bike resort, Åre Bikepark, opens, offering 34 trails to explore across 50 kilometers with 853 meters of height difference. Visitors can also enjoy activities like hiking, paragliding, kayaking and golf, or participate in the Åre Extreme Challenge – the area’s multisport competition held each July. The Tännforsen Waterfall, Sweden’s biggest waterfall, is another tourist favorite. In the winter, it turns into a beautifully lit ice sculpture.
