Casa Orinoco
Resort overview
Casa Orinoco is a spacious two bedroomed 1st floor apartment sleeping four. It is ideal for two adults & two children, having a double bed in the main bedroom & a small double with a bunk over in the second bedroom. There is also a very comfortable double sofa bed in the lounge should people prefer to use that.
The apartment is fully modernised & comprises of a bathroom with a walk in shower, toilet & sink.
Fully equipped kitchen with fridge/freezer, washing machine, dishwasher & full cooker with hob.
It has a massive 60m balcony overlooking a large swimming pool with a smaller child's pool attached. There is a large recreational area & garden next to the pool & it is very quiet & secure.
Mallorca is now a year round destination, in early December they have the turning on of the Christmas lights in Palma & other places, which is accompanied by lots of entertainment. In addition the world class shopping is fantastic with all the world’s best known fashion shops here, ranging from Dior, Louis Vitton all the way to C&A, & all at very attractive prices. Air fares are also very good value at that time of year.
From a very short & mild winter, in late January to early summer the cyclists & walkers arrive in their droves. From professional race teams to individuals tackling the mountains in the mild climate. If walking there are guides that will take you into more remote areas with overnight stops. If all that sounds a bit daunting to you just hire a bike for €5 a day & go along the maritimo in Palma looking at the millionaires yachts or just ride wherever you wish on numerous cycle tracks.
If all that is a bit too energetic for you, in February the Almond & other trees start to blossom & people travel from all over to see them. Take a train or car up to Soller, & get the tram down to the port which travels through Lemon & other fruit groves.
While you are there, have a meal at one of the world class fish restaurants, they actually catch Tuna locally there.
March & April it starts to get busier as the temperatures can really start to rise & the children break for Easter, look for the festivities throughout the Island that take place all year round.
They do like their festivals & are very welcoming.
May to November, hot hot hot, & busy during the school holidays, the Spanish also have very long holidays at this time & it can get busy.
Get onto one of the many beautiful beaches or coves, a lot of them have Chiringuitos, beach bars & restaurants, but if you're on a budget just get fresh meats, cheeses, olives, bread & make your own meal, it only costs a few euros.
Look out for the Cava, method champagne, a good one will cost about €2.00, & a decent red or white wine only a few euros more.
Dining, either go for the Michelin Star restaurants, or search out your own place to have a Menu Del Dia, normally three courses with bread water & wine from about €10.00. Also, every other type of restaurant you could wish for.
Bus & train services excellent & car hire is cheap out of season.
Mallorca really has grown into an International Destination now & is well worth a visit at any time of year.
