Piekenierskloof Mountain Lodge is a high point. No, seriously, it is a high point. Nestled up in the Piekenierskloof Pass above Citrusdal, the resort offers spectacular views of both the Oliphants River Valley and the majestic Cederberg mountains. In August and September, guests get to witness the unadulterated beauty of Mother Nature as she covers the area in a carpet of exquisite Namaqualand daisies. Breathtaking!
The thatched chalets are modern and comfortable with large patios, as well as an upstairs loft and magnificent valley and mountain views, so you start and end each day in comfort. Take an invigorating dip in the outdoor swimming pool at sunrise, or relax in the indoor heated pool at sunset - either way, it's fantastic. As for the kids, there's a games room and a playground.
Those mountains you can see from your chalet are more than just a stunning backdrop; they're a delight for hikers, climbers and nature lovers. The sheer variety of bird life and the diversity of the flora are amazing. The Maltese cross is a must-see. Sure it takes over 5 hours to get there, but you won't be disappointed! The sheer beauty of the view sears itself into your memory forever.
Saying the resort's name may be a mouthful, but tasting the wines at the Goue Vallei Winery is very easy on the palate. And it's an easy drive to Cape Town, a city that's bursting with the vibrancy of life - a smorgasbord of colour, sound and taste.
Yes, Piekenierskloof Mountain Lodge offers more than an ordinary holiday. Every time.
