There's a once-in-a-lifetime experience waiting for you at the foot of Garamoga Hills in South Africa. The Bakgatla Resort sits surrounded by the expansive veld of the breathtaking Pilanesberg National Park. Situated on the eroded remains of an extinct volcanic crater, the park is a breathtaking melange of rolling hills, wooded ravines and grassy plains. Herds of zebras and giraffe can be seen making their way to the waterhole of a morning, and then silhouetted against the setting sun on their return to the relative safety of the open plains.
This splendid resort consists of fully-equipped Colonial-style chalets and offers both relaxation and adventure. There's something wonderfully surreal about floating in an outdoor swimming pool as a troop of dust-covered elephants plod past in the distance.
This isn't just a holiday destination, it's a grand expedition filled with adventure and excitement. Throw on your pith helmet and leap into a 4WD for a stunning game drive - Africa's big five are out there waiting for you to shoot them - with your camera, of course! The sights and sounds are spectacular enough during the day, but at night the air reverberates with the hyena's manic laughter and the deep, penetrating roar of the lion. There's no mistaking it, you're at the very heart of wild Africa! And, like the other predators of the night, you can hunt out the restaurant where, serenaded by the calls of the wild, you can enjoy a relaxing sundowner.
