As you casually stroll along the pristine sand, a cloudless sky overhead and the clear blue waters of the Indian Ocean gently tugging at your ankles, it's hard not to believe you're in paradise. The self-catering units have both a stove and a microwave along with the other amenities designed to make your stay comfortable. Take a refreshing dip in the swimming pool or head to spectacular Shelly Beach and soak up the African sun. Alternatively, you can hunt down a fiercely delicious waffle from what is aptly named The Waffle House. These beasts are highly addictive, so best prepare for plenty of long walks through spectacular scenery as penance for your sugary indulgences. If you fancy a road trip, then the bright lights, fine dining and multicultural vibrancy of Durban are only an hour's drive away. As you'd expect in South Africa, there are more game parks and reserves to visit than you can wave a knobkerrie at, but each one offers an altogether different experience; from the reptilian wonders of Croc World, the slithering spectacle of Snake Park, to the sublime beauty of Mpenjati Nature Reserve's coastal bush. However, they are all eclipsed by the sheer magnificence of Oribi Gorge. The views from Leopard Rock are breathtaking! Well worth the effort.
