You wake up in a land of rolling, mist-shrouded hills and valleys of incredible beauty, guarded by a strutting peacock. No, it's not a dream, but it is the place you've always dreamed of. Welcome to Suntide Lodge Qunu Falls!
Set amidst the lush landscape of the Southern Drakensberg it has spectacular, unending 360-degree views. The revamped self-catering chalets provide a comfortable base from which to explore this natural paradise. You can ease into your adventure with a lap in the outdoor pool or a little steam time in the sauna. Or, if you prefer, there's the trampoline or a set or two on the tennis court. The area is rich in bird life, and over 160 species nest in the surrounding forests, including the beautiful Blue Swallow that teeters on the edge of extinction. Hiking is the best way to experience this place of mist and mountain. The Qunu Falls walk takes you on a gentle decline down to the valley floor and rewards you with a view of the cascading falls.
If you'd prefer to explore on four legs rather than two, you can saddle up and take a guided horse-riding tour or a quad-bike ride, both superb ways to discover the lay of the land. Kamberg Nature Reserve is a wonderful place of verdant canopies and sun-dappled trails, offering veterans of the rod and reel the chance to go fly-fishing. Later you can enjoy a relaxed sundowner at the resort's bar and reflect on the many that got away.
Suntide Lodge Qunu Falls. High up - and not just on the list of places to go to in Kwazulu-Natal!
