The Old Merchant House in Portsoy, Aberdeenshire, Scotland offers superb accommodation for up to six guests in three bedrooms. Dating from 1726 the house was owned by a famous smuggler and still retains much of its original features with exposed beams, original 18th c. stone fireplaces, wooden floors, original sash windows.
Accommodation is set over three floors, the entrance hallway is spacious, with a large tiled area and a separate cloakroom and understairs store.
On the first floor is the lounge area, with a large working wood burning stove and cosy sofas. The lounge, kitchen, and front bedrooms all overlook the harbour and out to sea. There is a TV with freeview channels & dvd player. There is a separate laundry and drying room, complete with washing machine and ironing facilities, as well as a large bright, fully equipped kitchen, which can be used as a casual dining area. The large rustic and beamed bathroom has a full-size bath, plus a large separate shower cubicle with electric power shower.
On the second floor, the three bedrooms all have period shutters, co-ordinating fabrics, and offer stunning views across the harbour. The main bedroom has a kingsize bed and the original 18th c. stone fireplace. There is also a twin room with two single beds, plus a small double.
There is also a large outside lockable store, which can house surfboards, canoes, fishing and golf equipment.

The area also boasts some fantastic wide sandy beaches and enjoys a warm and dry summer climate, the best in Scotland!
