Barnbarroch Cottage in South West Scotland is situated in the typical Scottish village of Kirkinner in Galloway, sited opposite the bowling green and a few doors up from the local shop, an Aladdin's Cave of essentials and information. A six minute drive takes you to the nearest town - Wigtown, Scotland's book town - with its fascinating array of bookshops amidst usual village stores, eating establishments, weekly market in the square and the town hall where local nesting Osprey can be viewed via camera link. A stroll down to the old harbour brings you to the bird hide where you can sit in peace and quiet to observe the array of wildlife, or walk along the estuary path to discover the 'Martyr's Stake' and its grisly history. The property is only fifteen minutes from Newton Stewart with shops and eating establishments and only a five minute drive from the beautiful coastline and sandy beaches.
Within walking distance from Barnbarroch Cottage, or a two minute drive, lies Kilsture Forest - a quiet haven for walking and watching
wildlife. The nearest beach (shingle) can be found at Innerwell, a four minute drive, on the edge of Wigtown Bay. Permits for sea and river fishing are available in the area and local fishing shops in nearby Newton Stewart will be happy to advise.
