Le Barchesse Di Villa Corner
Resort overview
Villa Corner, was begun in the early 1500s but was profoundly modified in 1700 by Giovanni Corner, Bishop of Castelfranco. Its classical Palladian style you see today is from this period. At the same the time the beautiful "Barchesse" were built by the same architects. In 1918 the Villa was occupied by General Enrico Caviglia, Commander of the 8th and 10th Army Corps. The two cannons in the park entrance date back to this era. In 1968, Sir Stafford Sands purchased Villa Corner from the Oreffici family (formerly of the Frona family). In that period Sir Stafford hosted many prestigious friends, including Paul Getty, Rockfeller and Maria Callas. In 1980 Count Nicolò Donà delle Rose (an imposing Venetian family with three Doges: Francesco 1544, Leonardo 1606 and Nicolò 1616), bought Villa Corner with the Barchesse, giving way to a skilful restoration and renovation work, transforming and barchesse into the prestigious holiday apartments you see today.
The property is located in the Trevigiana countryside just a few metres from the Sile River Natural Park. It is an ideal location to visit the Veneto Region with its historic villages, the Palladian Villas, and many wine and food routes. It enjoys a central location, perfect for day trips to the wonderful cities of Treviso, Padua and Vicenza. The Castelfranco Veneto train station is only 8 km away, with direct connections to Venice.
