Saxon Maybank
Resort overview
Saxon Maybank is a quiet and sophisticated escape in the depths of rural Dorset. It is utterly private, yet not remote, located off a network of country lanes and approached by a long private drive. The greatest spectacle of this peaceful, low impact development, are undoubtedly the exceptional southerly views.
Make your way up the long, private drive of this elegant country estate to discover a collection of luxurious lodges that blend in perfectly with the Dorset countryside.
It’s hard to say whether the first thing to strike you will be the peace and quiet or the views, but Saxon Maybank has a way of making you forget the rest of the world almost before you’ve grabbed your bags from the car…and then there are the lodges.
Hot tubs bubble, wood burners wait for dusk to fall so they can softly flicker and decked sun terraces bask in the sunshine, and every lodge has been designed to offer contemporary living that complements the unspoilt setting. Bright and spacious, the lodges include thoughtful finishing touches throughout that make them homes from home that go the extra mile.
Once upon a time the estate was a traditional working farm, so it’s only right that the lodges have been created using natural and reclaimed materials in a nod to the site’s roots.
Hot Tub Heaven. If you’re going to spend a few days of leisure on a private estate in the countryside then you may as well enjoy your own personal hot tub and enjoy complete pampering…and every Saxon Maybank lodge comes with a peaceful, bubbling hot tub just for you.
You’ll be free to sit back in the bubbles and take in the sight of the Dorset countryside that surrounds Saxon Maybank in style, so make sure you pack your swimming costume and the corkscrew.
Mornings will be a whole new experience as you step out onto the decking and sink into the water, and trust us, if you’ve never supped champagne under the stars while the bubbles soothe your muscles then you haven’t lived.
Now, Saxon Maybank may be secluded but it’s by no means remote, and the medieval market town of Sherborne nearby has friendly pubs that have greeted visitors for centuries and more than its share of beautiful buildings.
There’s little doubt that Sherborne is one of England’s most picturesque towns, and it’s home to a dramatic abbey, two castles and independent shops that sell gifts and items you’ll never find anywhere else.
If you fancy sticking to the paths less trodden then just step outside your lodge and take a look – wooded hillsides beckon, and they conceal the kind of little villages you’ll never have heard of but always be glad you discovered.
