Nook End Cottage in Swinhoe, near Beadnell, Northumberland is a three bedroom property to accommodate up to five guests. This delightful property has been awarded five stars by Visit Britain.
Accommodation: The front door opens into a welcoming hallway with coir matting and ceramic tiled flooring. There is plenty of space for hanging coats and storing boots and in a quiet corner you will find the telephone and lots of reading material and maps. The shower room and wc are off the hallway, as is a well designed utility space. The light and spacious kitchen/dining room features a large French oak table seating about 12 - great for entertaining. The shaker style kitchen has a ceramic sink, integrated appliances, lots of stainless steel equipment and plenty of storage space. It is well equipped with everything from a garlic press to a milk frother! The lounge is large, yet cosy with wooden beams, 2 large comfy sofas and 2 armchairs set around a wood-burning stove on a stone hearth. There are plenty of books and magazines to dip into during your stay and a selection of CD's to listen to. The rear door opens onto the enclosed garden and overlooks a large lawned area which features an unusual obelisk.
From the hallway the stairs take you to the 3 bedrooms and bathroom. The views from the landing window take in Bamburgh Castle and the coast, while from the bedrooms you can see the Cheviot Hills. The bedrooms feature beautiful handmade iron beds with luxury mattresses, plump duvets and cotton linen. The largest bedroom has a king-size bed, wooden furniture, hand picked soft furnishings and colour TV. The second bedroom has a double bed with walk in cupboard with velux window in the roof space. The smallest bedroom has a single bed plus an additional, very comfortable, single pull-out bed. The bathroom has a coastal theme and is well finished with a white suite and chrome fittings, including hand-held shower, shaving point and beautiful seaside tiling.
Outside, the private enclosed garden around the cottage, provides a safe play space for children and a sunny spot for outdoor eating. Across the shared driveway there is a further large lawn and gravelled area with tables and chairs - great for kicking a ball around, playing boules or simply admiring the views from the garden seat. The gardens are spacious, private and open, with superb countryside views stretching as far as Bamburgh Castle to the North and Dunstanburgh Castle and the coast to the South. There is plenty of parking space for several cars and holiday makers are welcome to use the garage to provide safe storage for car/boat/golf clubs/wet suits etc.

Visitors are offered a wonderful selection of activities, there is a never ending choice of things to do and places to visit. The historic market towns of Alnwick, Morpeth and Berwick are all nearby and the beautiful City of Edinburgh is only an hour and a half away by car. There are National Trust and Heritage properties to visit including Cragside House, Gardens and Estate at Rothbury, Chillingham Castle, Lindisfarne Castle on Holy Island and the Grace Darling Museum in the pretty village of Bamburgh. There are endless harbours and fishing villages such as Craster and Seahouses all within easy reach of Nook End Cottage in Swinhoe.
The hamlet of Swinhoe is just 1.5 miles inland from the quaint fishing village of Beadnell with its splendid beach, small harbour and ancient lime kilns. From the cottage you can see the dune packed sands of Beadnell Bay, which provide ideal conditions for watersports. The sandy beach running the length of the bay is safe for swimming. Beadnell Bay attracts all sorts of watersport enthusiasts including windsurfers, kite flyers, divers and jet skiers. Northumberland also boasts some of the most beautiful and first class golf courses in the country. Embleton, Alnmouth, Seahouses and Bamburgh courses are all nearby. A car is essential to fully explore this fascinating area of Northumberland.
