The cultural centre of Lancaster offers theatre and concert entertainment. Lancaster is dominated by its medieval castle and the River Lune that runs through the city. The narrow, Georgian streets surrounding the castle contain a wealth of attractions, shops and restaurants, making it an ideal choice for a holiday. Within easy driving distance is the southern Lake District, a popular tourist destination with spectacular lakes and mountain scenery and nearby Morecambe is famous for its fabulous sunsets and stunning views across the bay to the Lake District. Here you will find all the attractions of a traditional seaside town, with five miles of flat promenade ideal for a walk along the seafront to take in the views. Thurnham Hall is also ideally situated for day visits to the Yorkshire Dales and the year round entertainment centre and seaside town of Blackpool is only a short drive away. The scenery within the Lune Valley remains as beautiful today as it was when JMW Turner and Ruskin were captivated by the landscape and the River Lune continues to meander past unspoilt ancient villages and churches and is within easy reach of Thurnham Hall.
