Smithy House in Stainton, Cumbria is a superbly equipped, detached, three bedroom property to accommodate eight guests. Dating back to the 1700's, the house is superbly decorated and furnished to a very high standard with a Visit Britain award of four stars.
Accommodation: Spacious lounge with log burning stove, digital television, dvd player and double sofa bed. Downstairs is the master bedroom with king size bed and ensuite bathroom with a raised slipper bath, hand basin and wc. Downstairs is also a kitchen/dining room with Esse range cooker and a utility room with dishwasher, cooker, dryer/washing machine, microwave and fridge/freezer. Upstairs there are two bedrooms, one with a four poster bed and a twin bedroom with a flat screen television and dvd player. There is a separate bathroom with shower, hand basin and wc.
The house has a private enclosed garden with parking available for at least two cars. The garden is partly lawned with a shed, which contains two mountain bikes for guests use. There is also a barbeque and garden tables and chairs for six people. A very well behaved dog is sometimes accepted, with a strictly no smoking policy inside the house.
Smithy House in Cumbria is located in Stainton, a beautiful small village, only three miles from the shores of Lake Ullswater. The village has an excellent pub with shop, hotel, farm shop and post office. Stainton makes a great base for a cycling holiday, being adjacent to the Coast to Coast Cycle Route or for a walking holiday, with Helvelyn with Striding Edge, Blencathra with Sharp Edge all close by.
Penrith, a couple of miles away, is an old market town with a good range of shops, restaurants and amenities, a famous market is held near Penrith every Saturday morning. The nearby award winning visitor attraction, the Rheghed Centre, is well worth a visit with shops, a multiplex cinema and year round activities. Only 400 yards from the property is the Alpaca Centre, which is great for both children and adults.
The Lake District National Park has something to offer everyone, picture postcard scenery, sumptuous restaurants, art galleries, castles, museums, watersports, walking and great cycling. The largest of the United Kingdom's National Parks, it contains sixteen lakes, more than one hundred and fifty high peaks, with four over 3000 feet, six National Nature Reserves, a hundred sites of Special Scientific Interest, over fifty dales and four hundred towns, villages and hamlets within its 885 square miles of breath-taking countryside. A car is essential at this property for full exploration of this most beautiful of regions.
