Historic Barnard Castle, 6 miles away, boasts an array of shops, inns, restaurants, a splendid Norman Castle and the famous Bowes Museum. The Metro Centre and Beamish are an hour away. The Lake District is within driving distance. Fishing and riding can both be found locally. A car is essential to fully appreciate this area of County Durham.
