Accommodation is on a narrowboat which travels between two and four m.p.h., cruising from Canal Boat Club At Union Wharf for six miles takes you onto the Grand Union where you can travel north towards Leicester or south through Foxton Locks. Foxton has two staircases of locks, each with five locks to navigate. For cruising purposes guests must be fit and able bodied and comply with the minimum occupancy policy. Built and fitted here in the United Kingdom, craftsmen blend modern materials with traditional skills to create the now famous Canaltime narrowboat. Thoughtful design and subtle emphasis on light and space combine to create superbly appointed boats. Cruising is subject to guests accepting the compulsory tuition, which is only available on check-in days. In exceptional circumstances you may not be able to cruise if the Marina staff are not confident in your ability to use the Narrowboat. Minimum number of able bodied persons required is 2. Canal Boat Club At Union Wharf is located at Market Harborough in Leicestershire, an attractive market town whose centre is within walking distance of Union Wharf. Market Harborough is a pleasant, bustling market town with an impressive array of Georgian buildings and a church with a 14th century spire. Probably one of the best reasons to visit this part of the world is for nearby Foxton Locks where a flight of ten consecutive locks climb up a hill on the Grand Union Canal. The Foxton Locks are ten canal locks consisting of two "staircases" each of five locks, located on the Leicester line of the Grand Union Canal about 5 km west of the Leicestershire town of Market Harborough and are named after the nearby village of Foxton. They form the northern terminus of a 20-mile summit level that passes Husbands Bosworth, Crick and ends with the Watford flight. Staircase locks are used where a canal needs to climb a steep hill, and consist of groups of locks which open directly into each other. Foxton Locks are the largest flight of such staircase locks on the English canal system. The Grade II* listed locks are a popular tourist attraction and the county council has created a country park at the top. At the bottom, where the junction with the arm to Market Harborough is located, there are two public houses, a shop, trip boat and other facilities.

Payable per holiday not per week booked. Includes: this covers you in the event of damage, loss or accident to your boat or its inventory during your holiday. Excludes: damage arising from speeding, contact with a lock cill causing damage to the rudder, skeg, stern gear or boat, negligence, malicious or intentional damage to the boat. Also excluded is negligence, malicious or intentional damage to other boats and property and the late return of the boat and return of the boat in unclean condition. Utility fee: Covers gas, pumpout(s), water, and parking of a car for a 4 berth boat and two cars for a 6 berth boat etc. Only one fee payable per holiday but if guests book 2 weeks or more they will be responsible for pump-outs if required. T1 4 berth £58.50 T2 6 berth £72. Fuel Deposit £110 7 nights or £220 14 nights. Stays of longer periods will need to fill up with fuel at their own cost. The boat is handed over ready fuelled but the cost of hire does not include the fuel consumed. A fuel deposit is payable weeks before the start of your holiday. At the end of your holiday period the boat must be refuelled and any difference to the deposit paid will be refunded or charged. The Company may make a fuel surcharge if there is any material increase of diesel or gas prices or duty. It is advisable, for your safety, to watch the Canal & River Trust DVD. Check in outside of normal check in hours/days of 2-5pm in summer and 2-4pm in winter, can only be made by arrangement direct with the marina. This may not be possible and is subject to a charge of up to £50 if it is possible. Cruising is not always available – not only through planned maintenance stoppages but also through closures due to poor weather conditions. Pet charges £40 per pet, maximum 2 pets.
