Waveney River Centre
Resort overview
Waveney River Centre - the Broads National Park’s award winning waterside destination in the heart of the Waveney Valley.
A small, family-run lodge park with a focus on quality and relaxation. From the tranquility of your lodge you can listen to the birdsong and admire the amazing views across the Norfolk & Suffolk marshes, whilst you unwind on your balcony or soak in your hot tub.
The park offers a newly refurbished pub & restaurant, shop, indoor heated pool, boat hire - or even a mooring for your own boat. The Waveney Inn serves a delicious menu of locally sourced, freshly prepared food in addition to a range of ales from local brewer Adnams; enjoy your meal in the air-conditioned dining area or from the new al-fresco deck, where you can watch the cattle graze and the boats go by.
Waveney River Centre lies in the heart of the Waveney Valley, famous for its idyllic villages and unique market towns. The closest of these, Beccles, is a thriving riverside town with narrow streets and quaint architecture and is home to a wealth of independent retailers as well as a weekly market. A little further upstream is the ancient town of Bungay with its views over lush water meadows and diverse bits of history including a Roman well, Saxon church, the remains of a Norman castle and Benedictine priory. Halesworth is another charming market town, about 30 minutes drive, and famed for its flourishing blend of the arts, locally produced food and small independent shops.
If you’d like to get out on the water, then you can hire one of the day cruisers or perhaps keep your own boat in one of the moorings - just a few moments’ walk from your lodge. From the marina you can reach Oulton Broad in 40 minutes, Beccles in 1.25 hours or venture further afield to the pretty villages of Somerleyton, Reedham or Loddon. The Southern Broads are well known for being quiet and peaceful, and you can tie up for a picnic or some fishing in the middle of nowhere!
Norfolk & Suffolk have some great walks, and a quick trip across our pedestrian ferry takes you to the Angles Way long distance footpath, which passes through Beccles, Carlton Marshes and Oulton Broad on its journey from Thetford to Great Yarmouth. It’s a 50 minute walk into Oulton Broad - with its two mainline railway stations - and a longer 3 hour walk into Beccles, alongside the river.
