Resort overview
Lijiang Hostel is located in the south gate of the ancient city of Lijiang, China, surrounded by mountain peaks that reach longingly towards the heavens and gorges with swift rivers roaring in their jagged depths.
This non-English speaking hostel, with its beautiful ancient stonework and pavilions, offers guests the opportunity of a novel home-style experience. An exquisite building, it's the perfect base from which to explore places with names so poetic that they sound like they're straight out of the movies.
Places like The Five Phoenix Tower, which has been cunningly constructed so that from any place within the tower you can see colourful images of five flying phoenixes or the mountain range known as the 'Jade Dragon.' While out and about in downtown Lijiang, you're sure to come across amazing artesian wells. Grouped in threes, these wells are central to the daily lives of the local people and are used according to the direction of the water flow. The one furthest upstream is used for drinking water; the middle one for washing vegetables, and the one farthest downstream for washing clothes. Remember, no one likes vegetables that taste like old socks.
Lijiang Hostel is part of a magnificent tapestry of natural beauty and ancient legend, a place where the footfalls of mythical heroes can be heard in the dark of night. No wonder it's said that time in Lijiang will stay with you for all eternity.
